Wales for Africa

Raising Awareness Internationally

It is a sad fact that black and minoritised women experience inequality in all facets of their daily life, as they have throughout history. Gender based violence and human trafficking are prevalent in underdeveloped areas where women have less access to education, training, and sustainable livelihoods.

Bawso runs a ‘Wales in Africa’ project funded by the Welsh Government through the Wales Centre for Voluntary Services, with a partner in Kenya, the Christian Partners Development Agency, to create awareness in the community about violence against women and girls, particularly young girls who are at increased risk of violence from family members and the community.

This work is connected to activities in communities across Wales to raise awareness on violence against women, domestic abuse, and sexual violence. Interactive sessions help to inform young people of all forms of violence against women and girls and promote healthy relationships.
