The Fourth Annual Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls 2024

On the 6th of February 2024, the Institute of Government & Public Policy’s Fourth Annual Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls hosted an online conference designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the issue of violence against women and girls, discussing various aspects, from prevention and law enforcement to harmful attitudes and safety in public spaces, with a focus on diverse perspectives and approaches to combat this problem.

Our CEO, Tina Fahm delivered a powerful presentation in “Understanding the Multi-dimensional Challenges in Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls” focused on the International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM.

“Bawso, provides vital support to women affected by violence, including forced marriage, FGM, HBV, and MSHT. FGM, a global issue, affects millions of girls annually, with alarming numbers in the UK, including Wales. Despite stringent legislation, cases persist, highlighting the need for continued vigilance. Bawso’s proactive approach includes community advocacy and support programs, reaching thousands and assisting over 100 clients by 2019. Their dedication ensures survivors receive holistic support, including psychosocial care. Bawso’s work stands as a beacon of hope in the fight against FGM, offering refuge and support to those in need”.

“The overall score for the conference was 4.76/5, which is the highest score I have seen since joining IGPP in April last year!!! 😊”
