We are delighted to announce that Greater Sebei Empowerment Project has started the groundwork in Uganda. The aim of this project is to see a reduction in violence against women and girls (VAWG) which includes FGM, attitudinal change and confidence to challenge harmful cultural practices.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Achievements<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

15 community elders both men and women attended the vision casting, where they were given the vision of the project and strategies to eliminate FGM as part of our buy-in community approach.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

20 teachers from three different schools attended the training. The Greater Sebei empowerment project aims to work with the schools and provide sessions to children. This was welcomed by head teachers and teachers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The team met with 40 high school students to discuss FGM, giving young people the tools to identify concerns early on around child abuse and VAWG.<\/p>\n<\/div>

30 out 40 were given training on life skills and the harmful effects of FGM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is an exciting project for the Sebei community in Eastern Uganda and it has already generated a lot of interest among all age groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
