Why people do not disclose...

Some people do not disclose domestic abuse because they:

• Feel that they deserve it
• Cannot show vulnerability especially when they are the carer of the family
• Have anxieties
• Fear about the possible outcomes of telling someone
• Fear that no one will believe them
• Feel that people/family members will blame them
• Feel ashamed
• Fear being deported
• Have no legal status.
• Are afraid of Stigma attached to divorce
• Are economically and emotionally dependant on the perpetrator/family
• Will be Isolated
